The TEAM Resident/Fellow Curriculum is a fully online elective for residents and fellows focused on caring for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities. In this curriculum, residents and fellows will explore the overall approach to supporting an individual with ASD/DD, including the initial diagnostic process, management of common psychiatric/medical comorbidities, and social factors affecting those on the spectrum.
The curriculum is composed of four courses. The first course serves as a foundation of knowledge for the subsequent courses. The following three courses are focused on the assessment and management of co-occurring medical and psychiatric diagnoses.
We recommend that learners complete the foundational Course 1 before moving through the other courses. Courses can be taken in numerical order, as new knowledge is built upon previous course material.
For learners who wish for a more flexible approach, we suggest completing Course 1 prior to Course 2 or 4, and Course 2 prior to Course 3, as shown below.
Each course is designed with individual modules that include recorded videos and a suggested reading. Though there is no direct patient contact in this unit, materials covered include interviews and articles featuring individuals with ASD and their experiences within healthcare and beyond.
