This webinar presentation will provide an overview of best practices for supporting sexual health in autism and developmental disabilities for transitional-aged youth and adults.
Session objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
Identify the unique challenges individuals with autism face in understanding and navigating sexual health
Examine strategies for promoting sexual health and safety in individuals with autism
Address strategies in emphasizing body awareness, sexual boundaries, and the formation of healthy relationships in individuals with ASD
Address various aspects of reproductive health, including STI prevention and treatment, dealing with premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and related behavioral changes, providing contraceptive counseling, understanding the interaction between seizure disorders and menstruation, and exploring options for menstrual suppression
